  • RYAN PAUL

    Owner/Director FRA, FRCms, CSSC (NESTA), GOATA, USR 1 Certified

    Ryan brings over 23 years of training experience and expertise to each client. Ryan is a Universal Speed Rating NW Director of speed labs and is a certified level 1 instructor. He is one of the areas only certified GOATA certified specialist, Functional Range Assessment specialist as well he is a certified Functional Range Conditioning mobility specialist as well as a certified Speed and Strength coach and Corrective Exercise Specialist.

    He founded New Athlete in 2001 and began training athletes at local high schools, which quickly evolved to opening his first facility in 2002. He has worked with and trained more than 140 NFL players, 1000+ D1 athletes, 1350+ collegiate athletes, 25 All-American’s and over 8000 athletes from other sports. For the past 22 years, New Athlete has proudly trained and assisted in the athletes journey toward signing NFL, CFL, MLB and other professional contracts.

    Ryan is the areas foremost expert (2002) on using the ARPwave recovery system. Ryan has spent years reading about and researching the mind-body connection, studying how that relationship allows for continued growth and development on and off the field of competition. Ryan has been married for 26 years and has four beautiful children and 2 grand children.

  • DR. DANIEL ABDIE

    Physical Therapist DPT, ATC

    Daniel received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. He is a Portland, Oregon native attending Westview High School where he played football, basketball, and track and field. Daniel then went on to play wide receiver on the football team at Willamette University for 4 years and majored in exercise science.

    Daniel has a passion for working with athletes of all ages, and has extensive experience working with competitive athletes as they prepare to return to sport. Through the use of evidence based practice, it is his mission to make sure athletes return to the field/court confidently and safely. He has taken advanced manual therapy coursework and has certifications in BFR (blood flow restriction) training and trigger point dry needling.

    Besides working with patients, Daniel enjoys all things outdoors including hiking, camping, golfing, skiing, and fly fishing. He also enjoys watching all sports, especially football and basketball.

  • ZACK LAMIRATA

    Athletic Performance Coach USR 1 Certified

    Zack is one of our talented Coaches. Born in Orange County, CA, Zack was raised in Vancouver, WA where he graduated from Union High School in 2015 and participated in football and wrestling. Zack was recruited to play football at Eastern Washington University where he graduated in 2020 with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science.

    Zack has a passion that shows. Even going to the length of calling himself the ‘head dog breeder’ at the New Athlete #dawgpound. Everyday he comes in focused on the total human physical and mental performance. He has been at New Athlete since 2020.

  • HALEY WELLS

    Athletic Performance Coach & Marketing Director

    Haley Wells reigns from Ridgefield, WA and graduated from Ridgefield High School in 2018. She participated on the volleyball team and earned many all league and all state accolades. After high school Haley was recruited to play at Lower Columbia College (LCC). She graduated with her Associates in 2020 and transferred to Corban University. Haley participated in Corban’s first official year of Beach Volleyball and finished out the season placing fourth in the nation.

    Currently, she is working towards her Bachelors in Administrative Marketing online from Western Governors University. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband and dog Grizzly. During the winter, you can find Haley at the mountain snowboarding. She has been part of the New Athlete family since 2022.

  • MIKE MCMILLAN

    Athletic Performance Coach • NASM CPT, Green Level Usa Boxing

    Mike was born in Oceanside, CA and raised in Hagerstown, MD to parents who were Marines. He attended North Hagerstown High School in 2008 where he was recognized as an Honorable Mention All-State at wide-receiver.

    Before entering the fitness industry, he was a former collegiate and professional football athlete (AFL - Portland Thunder and Shock). He attended Mendocino College and Ashland University, graduating with his AA in Kinesiology in 2010. After retiring from football, he fell in love with the mental and physical demands of boxing. He has since been two time Oregon Golden Glove Champion (2022 & 2023) and 2022 Golden Glove Regional Champion and National Participant.

    Outside of fitness, Mike loves to eat, trying out new restaurants in Portland and when he travels. He is a Baltimore Ravens fan and enjoys watching combat sports. He has been part of the New Athlete Family since 2022.

  • MITCHELL DELMAGE

    Videographer • Athletic Performance Coach • Usr 1 Certified

    Raised in Vancouver, Washington, Mitchell graduated from Mountain View High School in 2018. Delmage played golf, basketball, soccer, and football for MVHS while also training at New Athlete for several years. Delmage went on to attend Washington State University where he walked on the football team to play under Head Coach Mike Leach. He played on scout team his freshman and sophomore year before hanging it up to focus on different aspects of the game.

    He became a social media videographer for two years and also gained experience as an intern strength and performance coach for WSU football. Delmage started at New Athlete in March 2023. He hopes to serve as a partner to athletes who aspire to reach a higher standard.

  • SOPHIA KEENAN

    Athletic Performance Coach

    Born and raised in Vancouver WA! Graduated from Columbia River in 2017 with a state championship for the girls soccer teams. Received a scholarship and played at Central Washington women’s soccer teams for 5 years receiving first team in the GNAC and third team All-West Region in 2019.

    Graduated from CWU in 2022 with a BS in Exercise Science. Then picked up everything and moved to Southampton England to complete a Masters in Sport Management at Solent University while playing the lovely game of football for both for the school and an outside club know as Eastleigh FC. Since moving back, Keenan started in July of 2023 and has made it her goal to improve the athletic ability of the all athletes at NA.

    Athletic Performance Coach

    I was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and grew up in Portland, OR. I attended Westview High School and played baseball year round with the Yard Baseball Academy and won an OSAA state title my senior year in 2018. After high school I went on to complete my associates degree from Portland Community College in 2021. While attending community college I became a youth baseball coach and decided to pursue coaching as a career.

    I interned for ten weeks with Ryan and the New Athlete coaches where I expanded my knowledge of speed and performance coaching as well as movement and physiology. I am currently finishing up my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Science with a focus in health and human performance from Western Oregon University. Aside from fitness I enjoy golfing, basketball, and watching the San Francisco 49ers and Giants.

    PATRICK MADDOX

    Athletic Performance Coach - GOATA & USR 1 Certified

    Patrick was raised in Portland, Oregon where he attended Westview High School playing football and running track. Patrick graduated in 2023 from Utah State University where he received a degree in Business Management. While attending Utah State University, Patrick played football as an Outside Linebacker and Safety for the Aggies for 3 years. During his offseason Patrick trained at New Athlete to improve his on-field performance for 2019-2022

    As a coach, Patrick coached college football at Pacific University as the outside linebackers coach as well as assisting with strength and conditoning. Patrick brings a tremendous amount of high energy and encouragement to every session.

    Outside of work, Patrick loves to sing and make music with his band, hike, and surf. Patrick wants every client he trains to reach their full athletic potential.
